After fleeing persecution for homeschooling in Germany in 2008, the Romeike family was granted asylum by Immigration Judge Lawrence O. Burman in 2010. The Obama administration revoked their asylum in 2012 and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the administration’s position saying that Germany was merely enforcing a general law regarding truants. HSLDA appealed to the Supreme Court on October 10, 2013.

I do find this very alarming. I also find common core alarming, and the way it is being pushed in every state. I do think this needs to be fought. Other than writing congressmen and voting- how do we fight this?
According to the family’s attorney on radio today, go to the Romeike page at hslda.org, sign the petition in support of allowing the family to remain in the US, contact your Congressional representatives and ask the to support the private bill to allow the family to stay, and ask everyone you know to do the same.
