Providential Importance in History

“The Nauvoo Temple [was dedicated] at 5:00 p.m. on Thu 27 Jun 2002, a time clearly chosen to commemorate the martyrdom of the two testators of the restoration, Joseph and Hyrum Smith. Both their death date and the date of this celebration is significant on the Hebrew Calendar. In fact, Zechariah prophesied that it would cease being a time to mourn and become a time to rejoice!” (Pratt, John P. From Martyrdom to Celebration!)

First Fruits unfolds the suffering which these young men endured for their missionary zeal and the agony of their community in deciding to send them forth at a time when missions to the heathen masses were unthinkable among Protestants.
