The inspirational true story of forgiveness.
The peaceful Amish community of Nickel Mines is forever changed when a gunman senselessly takes the lives of five girls in a schoolhouse shooting before taking his own life.
What transpires afterward takes the community by storm, as the media descend on the town and criticize its Amish leaders for their notion of unconditional forgiveness of the shooter and their outreach of support to his widow, Amy Roberts.
.Kimberly Williams-Paisley, as mother of one of the five girls, leads a talented cast in the highest-rated original film ever to appear on the Lifetime Movie Network. Devastated by her daughter’s death, Ida (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) finds herself struggling with her community’s belief in the transcending power of forgiveness and faces a profound test of her faith.
Deeply conflicted and unable to forgive the gunman and his family, Ida is tempted to leave the only life she’s ever known before re-embracing her faith.

This is an incredible real life story about forgiveness. As Christians we know we must forgive, but forgiving someone for killing someone you love is quite another challenge. This movie is beautiful because it also shows how healing forgiving can be, not only for ourselves, but for the ones we forgive. This movie was wonderful. I loved the characters, the writing, the scenery, the insight into the Amish culture: everything. The movie was sad, but had such an uplifting and inspiring message. Very, very well done. I keep in my house and take out to remind myself how important forgiving is and how small the things God asks me to forgive compared to what others have to forgive.
The example of forgiveness is amazing in this real life story. I can not imagine how one is able to do this. Only with the help of God is this possible.
This movie shows the struggles of a community affected by a shooting. It presents different perspectives from the murders wife, the Amish community and the children affected by the shooting. To be able to forgive someone for murdering your child(ren) would have to be one of the most difficult things to do. There is so much to learn about forgivess in this movie.
I cried through the entire movie. What an amazing example of forgiveness. I can’t believe that the Amish were in the Roberts home the very same day the girls got shot to let the widow know that they forgive her husband for going to the school. Charlie shot 10 girls and 5 of them were killed. The message of having an open heart and turning things over to God is a very important message. I also feel like I can relate to this movie a little bit because my son-in-law was killed in an automobile accident. When I went to court with my daughter, I was able to hug the mother of the girl that killed my son. I found myself on the journey of forgiving her. I know that forgiveness is a true principle.
