Volunteer

The Joseph Smith Foundation is volunteer based and each project is only made possible through the loving support and sacrifice of men and women who have a deep love for the Gospel and a desire to share it with others. If you would like to help us, here are a few opportunities currently open!

Prophetic FAQ Research

Comprehensively studying all of the teachings of the Presidents of the Church was the foundation James Stoddard used to build both his home, as well as the Joseph Smith Foundation, from the very beginning. To make these teachings more accessible, the Joseph Smith Foundation FAQs lists commonly asked questiosn on topics such as science, government, media, education, doctrine, etc. and then lists what the prophets have said in answer to that question. Great care has been taken to assure that very little commentary has been added. When commentary is provided, it is set off with blue text to ensure that the reader can easily distinguish the words of prophets and scripture.

Our goal is to ensure these FAQs are comprehensive, including every known quote from a President of the Church. The Science compilation is comprehensive but the other categories are in progress. We need your help to add more quotes!

What can I do?

  1. PICK THE TOPIC you are interested in or would like to find quotes for.
  2. FIND QUOTES we do not already have on our website! You can do this by:
    • Compiling quotes through your own research and then checking the relevant FAQ Page on our website to see if we are missing them.
    • Finding FAQ Pages on our website that are empty or scarce of quotes from the prophets, going through their teachings to find quotes, and then sending them to us.
    • Taking a book written by a President of the Church and sorting it by topic, and then sending the quotes you have found for the topics we have listed. (Note: While our FAQs focuses on the Presidents of the Church since they are the only men with keys to declare doctrine for the Church, we do have a section called “Supporting Statements” for the teachings of members of the Quorum of the Twelve/Apostles, Seventies, and other inspired members of the Church who support the prophets in their position.
  3. SELECT THE CATEGORY that fits the quotes you have.
  4. FILL OUT THE FORM which simply asks you to select which hich question matches the quote you have, enter your quote itself, and share the citation.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and we can help guide you further!
