(Granddaughter) “I remember of seeing Grandfather off and on, but he was gone a great deal with his cattle. One evening I was over to his house playing with the children, and before I realized it, it was getting dark and a storm and wind came up. I was afraid to go home alone and was crying for some of the boys to go home with me, and Grandpa got his big blue soldier cape and said, ‘Come on, I will take you home.’ He took me up in his arms and wrapped the cape around me and carried me home. So I know he had a tender, loving heart, regardless of his rough exterior.”1
“…Captain was not an old man then. He was tall, stately, with sharp features, a forceful character. The very air and even the earth seamed to move as he went on his way to work. Stern, kindly hearted, all the elements of a warrior and of a home man, a kindly husband and father were blended into his character…” 2

The Power of Healing
(Granddaughter) “…he was a firm believer in the Gospel. He had a wonderful gift of healing by faith and the power of the priesthood and whenever called would hitch up his team and go for miles to administer to the sick, day or night, rain or shine, or cold blizzards. He never refused and the sick were usually healed instantly.” 3

“To him was the gift of healing of the sick and power over evil spirits. I remember at one time at the home of John Watson who lived up in the Marsh Valley thirty-five miles away. Mrs. Watson was mother of a young child a few days old and had taken ill, said to be troubled with evil spirits. The case was very serious. Elder Hunt administered to her and she was healed. She had been born in the Church but her husband was not a member. Elder Hunt preached the gospel to him and when his wife was fully recovered he brought his family down to live in the Mormon town of Franklin, Idaho. They were fine people.” 4
