Life Sketch from The Other Eminent Men of Wilford Woodruff

Baron Georgiades de Boyescu, Romania ca. 1800’s

Much time and money has gone into the search for information on Dimitruis Parepa, Baron Georgiades de Boyescu. We have employed some of the finest genealogists and used the latest technology. Our efforts led us to an eighty-year-old man who is a deputy director of records of Romania, Alexandrui Perietsianu-Busau. Mr. Busau was able to locate a diploma of 26 February 1856 declaring Dimitrie Parepa Boyar pitar, which granted him the title of Baron. It was signed by Prince Barbue Stirbey of Wallachia. This is the only personal date we have on Parepa. Mr. Busua found that Parepa’s birthplace was in the town of Ploesti, the capital of the disricts of Prahova, in Romania.

Mr. Busua sent a researcher to Ploesti in hopes of finding a birth and a death date and any additional information. As of this printing, no further information has been recieved. Unfortunately the town of Ploesti was the most important oil-producing area during World War II containing many refineries. It was Hitler’s principle reservoir of gasoline, producing about 100 million barrels a year. The Allies made Ploesti a major target of their bombing raids. Consequently, many of the records have been destroyed and we may never find the information we are seeking.

We know little else about Parepa. He lived in England around 1835. He married an English singer Elizabeth Seguin. Elizabeth’s brother, Aurthur, was a singer for the Royal Courts. In 1836, a daughter, Euphrosyne, was born in Scotland. For some unkown reason, about this time Parepa returned to Romania and was unable to rejoin his family in England. Euphrosyne, under the tutelage of her mother became a famous opera singer throughout Europe and America. The San Francisco Opera Company was established in part due to her influence.
