I love this movie and the reverence that Ephraim has for the priesthood authority that he holds.
This is an amazing movie about faith, perseverance, endurance and patience. They gave everything for their desire to serve Christ. Which is a good reminder to us that we need to be grateful to God for all the blessings that He has bestows on each of us.
Ephraim’s Rescue is probably the most watched movie in our home! We love it! Our love for the early Saints has most likely stemmed from this movie. While watching, you see the stark difference of Ephraim’s life before he had come upon the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His temper was a large obstacle that he was able to overcome throughout his conversion, and he was able to understand the importance and the need for obedience with exactness. The way this movie portrays the Saints on the handcart trail is absolutely sobering– the trials and hardships they went through are unimaginable and Ephraim’s Rescue did a good job making you really feel the severity of what they had to go through and what they were able to overcome. The message throughout this movie shows the significant need to always be worthy for whatever opportunity may arise. Ephraim had a gift and the humble way he was used as The Lords instrument– is inspiring, and the desire to be used as an instrument in the Lords hand, as well, just doubly intensifies!
