31) ALL BEAR RECORD: Were all of the creations in the universe created for symbols in understanding the Plan of Salvation? Were all things created and made to bear record of the Lord? Why is this contrary to the foundations of Darwinism?

Questions Answered: Were all of the creations in the universe including galaxies, stars, planets, this earth and everything upon it, created for symbols in understanding the Plan of Salvation and the Work of God? Were all things created and made to bear record of the Lord? Why is this contrary to the foundations of Darwinism?

Commentary

The foundational principles usually ascribed to Darwinian Evolution and Neo-Darwinism include:

  1. All life originated and diversified through chance
  2. All organisms are descended from a single common ancestor in the distant past
  3. An unguided process of natural selection has the power to produce fundamentally new forms of life through random mutations
  4. Uniformitarianism or the principle that the present is the key to the past should be used in understanding the earth and all things in the universe
  5. There is no purpose or design in the universe

Additionally, Darwinian advocates typically hold to the following tenets as well:

  1. Life originated many millions of years ago
  2. Death has been a part of this world for millions of years
  3. The earth is billions of years old
  4. Spirit matter does not exist
  5. Intelligence does not exist
  6. Miracles were not involved in the origin of the universe
  7. Miracles were not involved in the origin of this earth
  8. There are no laws beyond the physical laws that science can comprehend

Of particular interest in this question are the statements by evolutionists declaring that chance and random processes are the guiding principles in the existence and continuance of the order and expansion of the Universe.Darwinists declare that the appearance of creation is really driven by natural selection and chance occurance. The order was not created nor organized, but is simply the product of natural randomness. The Word of the Lord declares much differently. The Prophet Enoch, who saw the history of the earth and was shown visions of the Creation and laws governing the Universe, declared:

“And behold, all things have their likeness, and all things are created and made to bear record of me, both things which are temporal, and things which are spiritual; things which are in the heavens above, and things which are on the earth, and things which are in the earth, and things which are under the earth, both above and beneath: all things bear record of me.” [1]

Here Enoch declares that God specifically and intentially Created all things both in the order of galaxies, stars and planets and in the organization of the earth and life upon it to witness of Him.The Lord also points out that even the Creations that appear to be temporal by man’s standards, were Created to witness of he Lord. There is no way that this can be harmonized with the assumptions of evolution.Either random processes are responsible for what we see, or they were intentionally organized to bear record of the Gospel Plan.Clearly, if one believes in the scriptural record, true science would include details and illustrations of how water, blood, air, stars and galaxies all witness of the Lord’s plan.True science would not lead individuals away from God, but would draw all people to their Creator. When placed in context, the scripture above teaches that the very Plan of Salvation is taught by the Creations of God.The Lord Created or Organized water, blood and spirit to teach of His Plan for bringing about the immortality and eternal life of man.

“That by reason of transgression cometh the fall, which fall bringeth death, and inasmuch as ye were born into the world by water, and blood, and thespirit, which I have made, and so became ofdusta living soul, even so ye must bebornagain into the kingdom of heaven, ofwater, and of the Spirit, and be cleansed by blood, even the blood of mine Only Begotten; that ye might be sanctified from all sin, andenjoythe wordsofeternallife in this world, and eternal life in the world to come, even immortalglory; For by thewaterye keep the commandment; by the Spirit ye are justified, and by the blood ye are sanctified; Therefore it is given to abide in you; there record of heaven; the Comforter; the peaceable things of immortal glory; the truth of all things; that which quickeneth all things, which maketh alive all things; that which knoweth all things, and hath all power according to wisdom, mercy, truth, justice, and judgment.”[2]

universe_sister_stars_Moon.jpg

The record of heaven is seen in the works of God by those with faith to see things as they really are, as they really were and as they really will be [3]. For evidence from a scientific perspective of God’s testimony in his creations, please seeJohn P. Pratt’s articles discussing calendars based upon the stars, planets and moon. The Lord uses signs in the heavens and earth to show forth Plan, Puposes and Work. The devil also seeks through signs to deceive even the very elect.

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great sign sand wonders; insomuch that, ifit werepossible, they shall deceive the very elect.” [4]

Elder Bruce R. McConkie of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles taught that the false Christs in the last days prophesied in the scriptures were false theories and false ideas promoted by their advocates to lead individuals away from the true Gospel and the True and Living God.Many in our day are showing forth signs in the heavens and signs in the earth beneath to prove that the scriptures are inaccurate, that we are not children of God, but that we evolved and all things came by chance.Because of these Darwinist teachings, millions are losing their faith. This is the very purpose for which these teachings were originally devised.Charles Lyell, one of the principle architects of the earth being millions of years old contrary to scripture, knew that if ever the scriptures were to be put down it would need to be through a new story with apparent evidence.

“If we don’t irritate, which I fear that we may . . . we shall carry all with us. If you don’t triumph over them, but compliment the liberality and candor of the present age, the bishops and enlightened saints will join us in despising both the ancient and modern physico-theologians . . . I conceived the idea five or six years ago, that if ever the Mosaic geology could be set down without giving offence, it would be in an historical sketch . . . Let them feel it, and point the moral.”[5]

Lyell was possibly the most influencial individual on the path that Charles Darwin took to declare all things the work of chance rather than the Creation of God.Does it really matter if one believes in the scriptural account as opposed to the signs shown in the earth that life evolved through chance? Many seek for harmony between the false theories and the Gospel suggesting that the scripture should not be believed when it comes to temporal” concerns. But if the temporal” matters are viewed as inaccurate in the scriptures will individuals believe that the non-temporal portions are true?If the scriptures are inaccurate when discussing the age of the earth, the life spans of the early inhabitants, the stories of the flood and so forth, why would one choose to follow follow their spiritual teachings. Are they outdated as well?If we choose to view the scriptures as inaccurate in temporal” teachings will we still be able to see the record of heaven teaching the simple truths of the Gospel. Will we miss the signs of His Second Coming and be deceived by those trying to explain away these signs as were the majority of the Nephites prior to his appearance inAmericaanciently?Note how the witness of the signs in the heaven and earth prophesied by Samuel was explained away in the Book of Mormon:

“Some things they may have guessed right, among so many; but behold, we know that all these great and marvelous works cannot come to pass, of which has been spoken. And they began to reason and to contend among themselves, saying: That it is¬ reasonablethat such a being as a Christ shall come; if so, and he be the Son of God, the Father of heaven and of earth, as it has been spoken, why will he not show himself unto us as well as unto them who shall be at Jerusalem?Yea, why will he not show himself in this land as well as in thelandofJerusalem? But behold, we know that this is a wicked tradition, which has been handed down unto us by our fathers, to cause us that we should believe in some great and marvelous thing which should come to pass, but not among us, but in a land which is far distant, a land which we know not; therefore they can keep us in ignorance, for we&cannot witness with our own eyesthat they are true.”[6]

The wicked part of the Nephites could not see the hand of God in the heavens and the earth. Will we be more wise than they were?

Prophetic Statements

Joseph Smith

God has made certain decrees which are fixed and immovable; for instance—God set the sun, the moon and the stars in the heavens, and gave them their laws conditions and bounds, which they cannot pass, except by his commandments; they all move in perfect harmony in their sphere and order, and are as lights, wonders, and signs unto us. The sea also has its bounds which it cannot pass. God has set many signs on the earth, as well as in the heavens; for instance, the oak of the forest, the fruit of the tree, the herb of the field—all bear a sign that seed hath been planted there; for it is a decree of the Lord that every tree, plant, and herb bearing seed should bring forth of its kind, and cannot come forth after any other law or principle.[7]

Joseph Fielding Smith

“EVOLUTIONARY THEORY FALSE. This idea that everything commenced from a small beginning, from the scum upon the surface of the sea, and has gradually developed until all forms of life, the beasts of the field, the fowls of the air, the fishes of the sea, and the plants upon the face of the earth, have all sprung from that one source, is a falsehood absolutely. There is no truth in it, for God has given us his word by which we may know, and all who are led by the Spirit of God can understand through that Holy Spirit, the truth of these things. [35]

Now let us reason together on what is here presented:

1. Worlds without number have been created.

2. They have been created as habitations for the children of God.

3. The great work and glory of our Father is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.

4. Inhabitants of other worlds are begotten sons and daughters of God.

5. When one earth passes away to its exaltation another comes.

6. The making of earths is a glorious work which has been carried on eternally.

This being true, then does it not appear to you that it is a foolish and ridiculous notion that when God created this earth he had to begin with a speck of protoplasm, and take millions of years, if not billions, to bring conditions to pass by which his sons and daughters might obtain bodies made in his image? Why not the shorter route and transplant them from another earth as we are taught in the scriptures? Surely to any reasonable mind, the Lord would not have to start with an amoeba, pass through the stage of lower fish to higher fish to reptiles to apes and to man! When we stop to consider how perfect are the workings of God; how thorough he is and orderly, surely these theories flatten out and are without substance. [36]

TIME ELEMENT IN THE CREATION. This earth was created on the Lord’s time, which is celestial time. By revelation we know exactly the nature of that time, and just how many days of celestial time were required to create this earth. Moreover, we know how long this earth has endured, approximately, and how long it will endure according to our present rate of reckoning. The Lord revealed to Abraham:

“And the Lord said unto me, by the Urim and Thummim, that Kolob was after the manner of the Lord, according to its times and seasons in the revolutions thereof; that one revolution was a day unto the Lord, after his manner of reckoning, it being one thousand years according to the time appointed unto that whereon thou standest. This is the reckoning of the Lord’s time, according to the reckoning of Kolob.

“And thus there shall be the reckoning of the time of one planet above another, until thou come nigh unto Kolob, which Kolob is after the reckoning of the Lord’s time; which Kolob is set nigh unto the throne of God to govern all those planets which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.”

CELESTIAL TIME USED IN CREATION. Also: “Fig. 1. Kolob, signifying the first creation, nearest to the celestial, or the residence of God. First in government, the last pertaining to the measurement of time. The measurement according to celestial time, which celestial time signifies one day to a cubit. One day in Kolob is equal to a thousand years according to the measurement of this earth, which is called by the Egyptians Jah-oh-eh.”

When this earth was created, it was not according to our present time, but it was created according to Kolob’s time, for the Lord has said it was created on celestial time which is Kolob’s time. Then he revealed to Abraham that Adam was subject to Kolob’s time before his transgression. “Now I, Abraham, saw that it was after the Lord’s time, which was after the time of Kolob; for as yet the Gods had not appointed unto Adam his reckoning.”

AGE OF THE EARTH SINCE ADAM. We have evidence beyond dispute that Adam was driven out of the Garden of Eden about 6,000 years ago, or perhaps a short time less. It is possible for us, by using the Bible chronology and that given by the Lord in the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants to figure this almost accurately.

In the Book of Revelation, chapters five to 10, we have the story of the opening of the seven seals by the Lamb, each seal representing 1,000 years of the temporal existence of this earth. In the Doctrine and Covenants 88:92-116 , we have the confirmation of this with other detail in regard to the opening of the seals. In section 77:6-15, we have more information in relation to the opening of these seals, with the following significant detail:

Verse 6: “Q. What are we to understand by the book which John saw, which was sealed on the back with seven seals?

“A. We are to understand that it contains the revealed will, mysteries, and works of God; the hidden things of his economy concerning this earth during the seven thousand years of its continuance, or its temporal existence.”

TEMPORARY EXISTENCE OF EARTH. Here is a definite statement by revelation to us that this earth will go through 7,000 years of temporal existence. Temporal, by all interpretations, means passing, temporary or mortal. This, then, has reference to the earth in its fallen state, for the earth was cursed when Adam, who was given dominion over it, transgressed the law. Before that time this earth was not mortal any more than Adam was. This we learn from other scriptures; for instance, see 2 Nephi 2:22 .

In verse 12, section 77 the Prophet by inspiration from the Lord, sets days of a thousand years off against years of our measurement, in these words:

“We are to understand that as God made the world in six days, and on the seventh day he finished his work, and sanctified it, and also formed man out of the dust of the earth, even so, in the beginning of the seventh thousand years will the Lord God sanctify the earth, and complete the salvation of man, and judge all things, and shall redeem all things, except that which he hath not put into his power, when he shall have sealed all things, unto the end of all things; and the sounding of the trumpets of the seven angels are the preparing and finishing of his work, in the beginning of the seventh thousand years-the preparing of the way before the time of his coming.”

CREATION DID NOT TAKE MILLIONS OF YEARS. Here we have the Prophet comparing the days of creation with seven periods of 1,000 years each, corresponding to days, according to the Lord’s time, in harmony with the teaching of Abraham and the other scriptures. The earth’s temporal existence, according to this, is to endure for just one week, or seven days of 1,000 years each. Moreover, since the earth was built according to the celestial time, which is the Lord’s days, which he clearly defined to Abraham, we can hardly be justified in trying to harmonize the days of creation with the extended periods of millions of years according to the reckoning of the so-called scientists.

Both from the Bible and from the Book of Doctrine and Covenants, we know that the flood came in the year 1600 from the driving of Adam out of the Garden of Eden. We know that Abraham was living in the days of Shem, son of Noah, if not in the days of Noah himself. Profane history corroborates the history of Israel and Abraham. So a man is willfully blind who would push these days back tens of thousands, much less, hundreds of thousands of years.

MEANING OF THE MERIDIAN OF TIME. Moreover, our Savior came in the meridian of time. That dispensation is called the dispensation of the meridian of time. This means that it was about half way from the beginning of “time” to the end of “time.” Anyone who desires can figure it for himself that our Lord came about 4,000 years from the time of the fall. The millennium is to come some time following the 2,000 years after his coming. Then there is to be the millennium for 1,000 years, and following that a “little season,” the length of which is not revealed, but which may bring “time” to its end about 8,000 years from the beginning.

We have seen that the Lord had not given to this earth its present time until after the fall. Before that time it was subject to Kolob’s time, which is eternal time. After the temporal existence of the earth is finished, it will again go back on celestial time, and there shall be “time no longer.” This does not mean that the inhabitants of the earth, who will be celestial beings, will not reckon by time, but by a different time-Kolob’s time which the Lord says is his time.

If men prefer to believe the strong delusions taught by evolutionists, rather than what the Lord has revealed, we cannot help it, but it certainly shows in them a lack of faith, which is not to their credit. [37]

When this earth on which we dwell was created it was according to the eternal plan of the Father, and likewise in accordance with his reckoning. This he definitely declared to the knowledge and understanding of all those who are, through their faith, willing to accept what he has given by revelation to his prophets. Abraham was among other things an astronomer. He knew more about the heavens, when they were created, and the purpose of their creation, than all the astronomers in the world today put together. The Lord revealed these things to him by Urim and Thummim and also talked to him, “face to face, as one man talketh with another,” and told him “of the works which his hands had made,” and they were multiplied before Abraham’s eyes and he could not see the end thereof.

The Lord made known to him the following facts: That Kolob is the first creation, and is nearest to the celestial, or the residence of God. It is the first in government, the last pertaining to the measurement of time. This measurement is according to celestial time. One day in Kolob is equal to a thousand years according to the measurement of this earth, which by the Egyptians was called Jah oh eh. Oliblish, so called by the Egyptians, stands next to Kolob in the grand governing creation near the celestial, of place where God resides. This great star is also a governing star and is equal to Kolob in its revolutions and in its measuring of time. Other grand governing stars were also revealed to Abraham, and the Lord said to him:

These are the governing ones; and the name of the great one is Kolob, because it is near unto me, for I am the Lord thy God: I have set this one to govern all those which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.

And the Lord said unto me, by the Urim and Thummim, that Kolob was after the manner of the Lord, according to its times and seasons in the revolutions thereof; that one revolution was a day unto the Lord, after his manner of reckoning, it being one thousand years according to the time appointed unto that whereon thou standest. This is the reckoning of the Lord’s time, according to the reckoning of Kolob… (Abr. 3:3,4)

From this revelation given to Abraham in relation to the heavenly bodies, we have discovered that the governing star of the universe is Kolob, “the first creation,” and the Lord’s time is the time of Kolob, “which is celestial time.”

We also learn that Peter understood this fact when he said: “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” (2 Peter 3:8) Here is the information which throws light upon the days of creation, and again the Lord revealed to Abraham that the creation was according to God’s time, and he wrote regarding the commandment given to Adam:

But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the time that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die. Now I, Abraham, saw that it was after the Lord’s time, which was after the time of Kolob; for as yet the Gods had not appointed unto Adam his reckoning. (Abr. 5:13)

Here again we have the information that the creation of this earth was according to Kolob’s time, which is celestial time…

Early in March 1832, while the Prophet Joseph Smith was revising the scriptures by revelation, the Lord gave him answers concerning certain things in the Revelation of John. Among these questions and answers are the following:

6. Q. What are we to understand by the book which John saw, which was sealed on the back with seven seals?
A. We are to understand that it contains the revealed will, mysteries, and works of God; the hidden things of his economy concerning this earth during the seven thousand years of its continuance, or its temporal existence.

Question Twelve and answer are as follows:

Q. What are we to understand by the sounding of the trumpets, mentioned in the 8th chapter of Revelation?
A. We are to understand that as God made the world in six days, and on the seventh day he finished his work, and sanctified it, and also formed man out of the dust of the earth, even so, in the beginning of the seventh thousand years will the Lord God sanctify the earth, and complete the salvation of man, and judge all things, and shall redeem all things, except that which he hath not put into his power, when he shall have sealed all things, unto the end of all things; and the sounding of the trumpets of the seven angels are the preparing and finishing of his work, in the beginning of the seventh thousand years the preparing of the way before the time of his coming. (D&C 77:6,12)

This revelation confirms the fact that the days of creation were celestial days, and this earth is passing through one week of temporal (mortal) existence, after which it will die and receive resurrection. 1

In respect to President Joseph Fielding Smith’s words on this subject President Ezra Taft Benson added his testimony (Please see the reference for context):“It is also apparent to all who have the Spirit of God in them that Joseph Fielding Smith’s writings will stand the test of time.[38]

Scriptures

Alma 30:44
But Alma said unto him: Thou hast had signs enough; will ye tempt your God? Will ye say, Show unto me a sign, when ye have the testimony of all these thy brethren, and also all the holy prophets? The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even theearth, andallthings that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator.”

Helaman 14:2-6, 12, 14, 20, 28
And behold, he said unto them: Behold, I give unto you a sign; for five years more cometh, and behold, then cometh the Son of God to redeem all those who shall believe on his name. And behold, this will I give unto you for a sign at the time of his coming; for behold, there shall be great lights in heaven, insomuch that in the night before he cometh there shall be no darkness, insomuch that it shall appear unto man as if it was day. Therefore, there shall be one day and a night and a day, as if it were one day and there were no night; and this shall be unto you for a sign; for ye shall know of the rising of the sun and also of its setting; therefore they shall know of a surety that there shall be two days and a night; nevertheless the night shall not be darkened; and it shall be the night before he is born. And behold, there shall a new star arise, such an one as ye never have beheld; and this also shall be a sign unto you.And behold this is not all, there shall be many signs and wonders in heaven. . . . . And also that ye might know of the coming of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and of earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning; and that ye might know of the signs of his coming, to the intent that ye might believe on his name.. . . And behold, again, another sign I give unto you, yea, a sign of his death. But behold, as I said unto you concerning another sign, a sign of his death, behold, in that day that he shall suffer death the sun shall be darkened and refuse to give his light unto you; and also the moon and the stars; and there shall be no light upon the face of this land, even from the time that he shall suffer death, for the space of three days, to the time that he shall rise again from the dead.. . .And the angel said unto me that many shall see greater things than these, to the intent that they might believe that these signs and these wonders should come to pass upon all the face of this land, to the intent that there should be no cause for unbelief among the children of men.”

Helaman 16:13-23
ut it came to pass in the ninetieth year of the reign of the judges, there were great signs given unto the people, and wonders; and the words of the prophets began to be fulfilled. And angels did appear unto men, wise men, and did declare unto them glad tidings of great joy; thus in this year the scriptures began to be fulfilled. Nevertheless, the people began to harden their hearts, all save it were the most believing part of them, both of the Nephites and also of the Lamanites, and began to depend upon their own strength and upon their own wisdom, saying: Some things they may have guessed right, among so many; but behold, we know that all these great and marvelous works cannot come to pass, of which has been spoken. And they began to reason and to contend among themselves, saying: That it is not reasonable that such a being as a Christ shall come; if so, and he be the Son of God, the Father of heaven and of earth, as it has been spoken, why will he not show himself unto us as well as unto them who shall be at Jerusalem?Yea, why will he not show himself in this land as well as in the land of Jerusalem? But behold, we know that this is a wicked tradition, which has been handed down unto us by our fathers, to cause us that we should believe in some great and marvelous thing which should come to pass, but not among us, but in a land which is far distant, a land which we know not; therefore they can keep us in ignorance, for we cannot witness with our own eyes that they are true. And they will, by the cunning and the mysterious arts of the evil one, work some great mystery which we cannot understand, which will keep us down to be servants to their words, and also servants unto them, for we depend upon them to teach us the word; and thus will they keep us in ignorance if we will yield ourselves unto them, all the days of our lives. And many more things did the people imagine up in their hearts, which were foolish and vain; and they were much disturbed, for Satan did stir them up to do iniquity continually; yea, he did go about spreading rumors and contentions upon all the face of the land, that he might harden the hearts of the people against that which was good and against that which should come. And notwithstanding the signs and the wonders which were wrought among the people of the Lord, and the many miracles which they did, Satan did get great hold upon the hearts of the people upon all the face of the land.”

3 Nephi 1: 4, 9, 13-14, 16, 18-19, 22, 26
And it came to pass that in the commencement of the ninety and second year, behold, the prophecies of the prophets began to be fulfilled more fully; for there began to be greater signsand greater miracles wrought among the people. . . .Now it came to pass that there was a day set apart by theunbelievers, that all those who believed in those traditions should be put to death except thesignshould come to pass, which had been given by Samuel the prophet. . . . Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall thesignbe given, and on themorrowcome I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to bespokenby the mouth of my holy prophets.Behold, Icomeunto my own, tofulfilall things which I have made known unto the children of men from thefoundationof the world, and to do thewill, bothofthe Father and of the Son—of the Father because of me, and of the Son because of my flesh. And behold, the time is at hand, and this night shall thesignbe given.. . .And there were many, who had not believed the words of the prophets, whofellto the earth and became as if they were dead, for they knew that the greatplanof destruction which they had laid for those who believed in the words of the prophets had been frustrated; for thesignwhich had been given was already at hand.. . . For they knew that the prophets had testified of these things for many years, and that thesignwhich had been given was already at hand; and they began to fear because of their iniquity and their unbelief. And it came to pass that there was no darkness in all that night, but it was as light as though it was mid-day. And it came to pass that the sun did rise in the morning again, according to its proper order; and they knew that it was the day that the Lord should beborn, because of thesignwhich had been given. . . . And it came to pass that from this time forth there began to belyingssent forth among the people, by Satan, to harden their hearts, to the intent that they might not believe in thosesignsand wonders which they had seen; but notwithstanding these lyings and deceivings themorepart of the people did believe, and were converted unto the Lord.. . . And thus the ninety and second year did pass away, bringinggladtidings unto the people because of thesignswhich did come to pass, according to the words of the prophecy of all the holy prophets.”

Alma 30: 43-45, 48-49, 51
And now Korihor said untoAlma: If thou wilt show me asign, that I may be convinced that there is a God, yea, show unto me that he hath power, and then will I be convinced of the truth of thy words.ButAlmasaid unto him: Thou hast hadsignsenough; will ye tempt your God? Will ye say, Show unto me asign, when ye have the testimony ofallthese thy brethren, and also all the holy prophets? And yet will ye deny against all thesewitnesses? And he said: Yea, I will deny, except ye shall show me asign.. . . Now Korihor said unto him: I do not deny the existence of a God, but I do not believe that there is a God; and I say also, that ye do not know that there is a God; and except ye show me asign, I will not believe.NowAlmasaid unto him: This will I give unto thee for asign, that thou shalt bestruckdumb, according to my words; and I say, that in the name of God, ye shall be struck dumb, that ye shall no more have utterance.. . . And now when the chief judge saw this, he put forth his hand and wrote unto Korihor, saying: Art thou convinced of the power of God? In whom did ye desire thatAlmashould show forth hissign? Would ye that he should afflict others, to show unto thee asign? Behold, he has showed unto you asign; and now will ye dispute more?

D&C 63: 7-12
And he that seeketh&signs shall see&signs, but not unto salvation.Verily, I say unto you, there are those among you who seeksigns, and there have been such even from the beginning; But, behold, faith cometh not bysigns, butsignsfollow those that believe.Yea,&signscome byfaith, not by the will of men, nor as they please, but by the will of God.Yea,signscome by faith, unto mighty works, for withoutfaithno man pleaseth God; and with whom God isangryhe is not well pleased; wherefore, unto such he showeth nosigns, only inwrathunto theircondemnation.

D&C 45: 16, 39-40
And I will show it plainly as I showed it unto mydisciplesas I stood before them in the flesh, and spake unto them, saying: As ye have asked of me concerning thesignsof my coming, in the day when I shall come in mygloryin the clouds of heaven, to fulfil the promises that I have made unto your fathers,. . . . And it shall come to pass that he thatfearethme shall belookingforth for the greatdayof the Lord tocome, even for thesignsof the coming of the Son of Man. And after the Messiah shall come there shall besignsgiven unto my people of his birth, and also of his death and resurrection; and great and terrible shall that day be unto the wicked, for they shall perish; and they perish because they cast out the prophets, and the saints, and stone them, and slay them; wherefore the cry of the blood of the saints shall ascend up to God from the ground against them. . . . But behold, the righteous that hearken unto the words of the prophets, and destroy them not, but look forward unto Christ with steadfastness for the signswhich are given, notwithstanding all persecution; behold, they are they which shall not perish. . . . And that he manifesteth himself unto all those who believe in him, by the power of the Holy Ghost; yea, unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, working mighty miracles, signs, and wonders, among the children of men according to their faith.”

And behold, all things have their likeness, and all things are created and made to bear record of me, both things which are temporal, and things which are spiritual; things which are in the heavens above, and things which are on the earth, and things which are in the earth, and things which are under the earth, both above and beneath: all things bear record of me.”
